Clinicians
The information provided by the SphygmoCor System is
relevant in many varying applications in the area of
clinical diagnosis and treatment. Through the evaluation
of arterial stiffness and its impact on the heart,
clinicians have an increased ability to assess disease
progression and patient risk.
The major areas in which this system can be applied
include the following:
Hypertension – the SphygmoCor system provides a
comprehensive cardiovascular assessment, thereby
allowing more effective treatment and patient management
decisions.
Heart Failure – SphygmoCor provides the ability
to differentiate between primarily systolic and
primarily diastolic heart failure, and management of the
progression of diastolic dysfunction.
Renal Disease - Measures of arterial stiffness,
such as those provided by the SphygmoCor have been shown
to be powerful independent predictors of mortality in
end-stage renal disease.
Diabetes – SphygmoCor allows improved patient
treatment in diabetes due to early identification of “at
risk” diabetes patients.
