Pharmaceutical Clinical Trials

AtCor Medical is the gold standard for pulse wave analysis and pulse wave velocity assessment, currently used worldwide in major pharmaceutical clinical trials. We provide comprehensive support for central blood pressure assessment in clinical trials, including:

  • SphygmoCor® noninvasive central blood pressure assessment systems
  • Study-specific investigational site/operator training
  • Protocol compliance/Data quality assurance
  • Data management

The Role of Noninvasive Central Blood Pressure Assessment

Noninvasive Central Blood Pressure Assessment is becoming increasingly important in pharmaceutical clinical trials. The Strong Heart Study and other recently published clinical studies have shown that elevated central pressure, even in patients with normal brachial blood pressure, is associated with increased risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney disease.

Importantly, the CAFE study showed that decreased central pressure was associated with decreased risk of cardiovascular events.

Central blood pressure in individuals cannot be determined through traditional brachial blood pressure measurements.

Pharmaceutical clinical trials utilize SphygmoCor noninvasive central pressure assessment:

  • To demonstrate beneficial drugs effects that may not be evident with brachial blood pressure monitoring alone
  • To assure patient safety
  • To evaluate compounds in development to assess their effects on central blood pressure

Published Studies

Over 200 peer-reviewed studies incorporating SphygmoCor assessment have been published in international medical journals.
